US: Future of Simplot potato processing plant in Aberdeen unclear

The J.R. Simplot Company is planning to close its potato processing plant in Aberdeen this year, but it’s not yet clear as to when that will happen, nor has the company decided what to do with the facility in the future. “There are no specific plans at this time for the Aberdeen plant structures,” said David Cuoio, spokesperson for the company. Simplot officials announced in 2011 that they planned to close plants in Aberdeen and Caldwell in the years ahead as they constructed a new state-of-the-art potato processing facility that would replace the existing plant in Caldwell.
