British seed potato exports to Egypt have risen by almost 20 per cent this season as overseas demand for one of the country’s strongest exports continues to rise. A total of over 103,000 tonnes of seed potatoes were exported from Britain during the 2013/2014 season, a 30 per cent increase during the last decade. And trade body Potato Council said that there are indications that demand for UK potatoes will continue to increase, following access to new markets such as Vietnam and Cuba.
