Northern Ireland: Tremendous turnout for Potato Festival

Well over 5,000 people enjoyed the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of Northern Ireland’s second Potato Festival, held at a site adjacent to the Giant’s Causeway last Saturday. And visitors who may have thought that the humble spud was fast receding into the background – as part of our local folklore – would have come away with a clear message that potatoes have a dynamic and vibrant future in our fast changing world. “Yes, we want to highlight the heritage of potatoes,” confirmed Michael McKillop, one of the event organisers.
