An American fighter jet has crashed in a field in Lincolnshire in the UK, just yards from a school. The jet crashed in an eight acre field where a crop of around 160 tons of potatoes was due to be harvested either on Friday or Saturday by tenant farmers Tim Cley, 55, and his brother Michael, 47, from near Whaplode. Tim said: “It was a good job we were not in the field at the time because we could have had the plane crash on top of us. “I can’t imagine we are going to be able to harvest our potatoes now because the wreckage and the investigation teams will be there for a while.
