Potato chips maker to invest $2.5 million, add jobs

A Canadian company that makes potato chips plans to invest another $2.5 million in its plant just outside Fort Wayne. Saratoga Potato Chips LLC invested $4.9 million in a plant at 6923 Lincoln Parkway when the company located its U.S. headquarters here in 2010. Now, the company plans to spend $2 million more on a building addition and $500,000 on new equipment. The company’s tax abatement application will be considered Thursday by Allen County Council. According to the application, 25 additional jobs in food preparation will be created with the expansion. The jobs pay $33,280 on average, although pay will range between $30,000 and $40,000. The additional workers will be in place by July 1, 2021. (Source: Journal Gazette)
