Videos: The joy of watching mighty potato machines in action…

As an ex potato farmer myself, I very well know that apart from the joy of working with the crop itself, the machines used to work potato fields are high up on the list for most potato growers when it comes to the essence of what makes potato growing such a wondrous (and for some addictive) occupation…

I hope you growers out there will enjoy the videos below – if you know of any other machinery videos that I can post here for others to enjoy, please feel free to send along the links or the videos itself if it belongs to you personally, and I will be happy to post it on Potato News Today…

The first video shows harvesting potatoes with a PLOEGER AR-4BX 4-row self-propelled bunker harvester from contractor Demijba of Strijensas in the Netherlands. The harvester was brand-new and on his first job, so the factory send a mechanic to fine-tune the beast – you can see him in some shots. The potatoes are carted away using two Fendt 724 and 830 Vario tractors both with Beco Maxxim 1800 trailers and a nice sounding New Holland T7030 also with a Beco Maxxim 1800 trailer. On the yard the potatoes are loaded on a truck ready for a 700 kilometer journey to Switzerland.

The second video is entitled “Best of GRIMME Group 2017”. Not sure if there might be a 2018 version? Let me know if so, and I will post it on Potato News Today.

Erikson Farms in Rexburg, Idaho is harvesting Russet Burbanks up on the Rexburg Bench using the Spudnik 16 row system.

And below, potato harvesting, Morden Agriculture – Noal Farm 2018. Double L’s, Spudnik’s and Grimme’s in action…
