Spanish potato campaign comes to a close with price rise of 433%

Agria potato prices have risen by 20 Euro, reaching 390 Euro per ton, while the Hermes now stands at 310 Euro. The prices of other varieties oscillated between the 320 Euro of the Red Scarlett and Desirée, to the 390 Euro of the Pontiac and the 400 Euro per ton of the Kennebec.

According to sources from the Lonja de Leon, this season has been characterized by good prices at origin and average/low yields, of around 40 tons per hectare.

In the case of the Red Scarlett potato, its price has skyrocketed from the 60 Euro paid in the same week of last year to the current 320 Euro per ton, which represents an increase of 433%.
