Tasmanian potato growers say returns from Simplot are not covering production costs

One of the major processors in Tasmania – Simplot – is spending more than $50 million improving the processing plant at Ulverstone.

Potato growers who supply the company have welcomed the move, but say they are struggling to cover their production costs.

One grower – Scott Rockliff, told Hugh Hogan of TAS Country Hour that their 3 year contract deal is coming to an end and he hopes a price increase is in the new deal.
